Get to know our story

It was sometime in the Fall of 2020, on a joyful evening of a day spent with mechanical puzzle solving, that Daniel felt the urge to bring a complex sequential discovery puzzle with a long solution to life. Ideas of mechanisms, yet without a theme, quickly turned into sketches, and it wasn’t long before the theme for the puzzle was also born: the Jukebox. Daniel’s sketches on paper were soon developed digitally, and the search began for mechatronic engineers and professional craftsmen in CNC-machining. After the making of several prototypes, numerous redesigns, playtesting, resizing, surface treatments, it took just under 4 years to hold the final master copy of Jukebox in hand. Following a few days of amusement and playing with the puzzle, the Jukebox was sent on its way to the 2024 Nob Yoshigahara Puzzle Design Competition held at the 41st International Puzzle Party in Houston, Texas, where the puzzle won Jury Grand Prize. MoonTree Puzzles was formed to provide a background for the production of a limited run of Jukebox, as well as to develop further ideas and puzzle concepts in the future.
